Palm Tree

After this hard week filled with a mix of happiness and sadness ended with retreating home in the middle of a storm, I write to refresh my soul. It reminds me who I need and where I want to go.

Like a palm billowing in the midst of a hurricane,

guide me to deepen my roots & stand firm in the storms of this world;

bending in high winds rather than snapping in two.

Like a palm breaking rope wrapped around its’ trunk,

share with me strength to overcome what binds me;

worldly covets & sin have no place in Your home.

Like a palm sustaining its’ beautiful green leaves & fruit for years on end,

dwell in me so i can run my race with endurance;

finishing full of life & bearing Your fruit in my old age.

Like a palm protecting from the heat of a summer day,

let me be a place of refuge & rest with a nurturing spirit;

encouraging others to embrace Your protection & provision.

Like a palm beckoning approach to a distant desert oasis,

summon me to be a life giver in both jubilation & sorrow;

inviting Your people to love deeply & the lost to know Your Truth.

Like a palm producing sweeter fruit with each passing year in torrid sun,

teach me to submit to Your power & partner well with Your people;

laboring side by side today so we can

flourish

together

in

Your

Eternal

Court.

The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God.

They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, “The Lord is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”

PSALM 92:12-15
